Narrator Ralph Cosham evokes the idyllic Quebec village of Three Pines with skillful handling of the often funny, often conflicted people who live there. He also captures the political intrigue within the Quebec police department. When a séance in a spooky house, meant to be fun, ends in death, you can hardly wait for the much loved, much maligned, always compassionate Chief Inspector Armand Gamache to show up. He’s the focal point of all three of these mysteries, and Cosham renders him so believable that he'll stay with you long after you stop listening.
