MARRIAGE IS MURDER

The public and private sides of Pickard's amiable heroine, Jenny Cain, offer good characters and intriguing circumstances, blending police business with the business of social service agencies. Norah Bernard takes a restrained approach to this episode, which involves domestic abuse. The story is a great choice for audio, but Bernard's light, high voice doesn't quite give the characters enough depth or distinction.
