The chief of the Houston PD's Criminal Intelligence Division fights to uncover the corruption that threatens his whole department. The story is superbly written and exquisitely paced. From the first sentence, suspense builds ever so slowly. Dick Hill's reading is admirably suited to the text. His masterful characterizations are subtle and precisely appropriate. His voice becomes the intangible, but defining, boundary of this beautifully wrought and menacing world. His cool, calm and certain narration advances the story with delicious suspense.
