Listeners who experience this startling, powerful play as presented by L.A. Theatre Works and performed by actors Gregory Itzin, Jenny O'Hara, and a tremendous supporting cast will be shaken to the core. Playwright Julie Marie Myatt has woven a compelling story of an American expatriate and a British nun who work to rescue and rehabilitate Cambodian children from the nightmare of prostitution. The vocal performances are dramatic and strong throughout, although Jenny O'Hara's British accent is neither powerful nor consistent. Nevertheless, this ranks as one of LATW’s best offerings, not only for the quality of the audio presentation and the clever use of music but also for the sheer force of this undeniably distressing play.
