NO EASY ANSWERS

by | Read by Johnny Heller, Jeff Woodman, et al.

Young Adult • 8 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1997

Teenagers confront a variety of moral dilemmas and the consequences of their own choices in 16 original stories by leading authors for young adults. Narrative styles vary in effectiveness, from Ed Sala's unadorned, subtly nuanced and sensitive interpretations to some inappropriately "cheery" dramatizations by Kim Staunton. Directing any anthology specifically at a young adult audience can be problematic because "young adult" covers such a wide range of maturity and interest levels. This audio anthology makes it even more difficult because young listeners cannot easily select or sample individual stories or favorite authors. They are likely to be put off from the start by the slow, stilted reading of the introductory material. This collection is best used by a classroom teacher, with a copy of the book at hand for identifying appropriate selections for an individual listener or a class.
