This fast-moving tale of two murders and two trials woven together is crisply read. In this sequel to THE DEFENSE, attorney Joe Antonelli returns after a year's self-imposed exile from law practice. TV actor David Elias begins matter-of-factly, but as the tension and suspense build, so does Elias's presentation. Elias ably demonstrates his versatility in the second trial as he portrays the angry defense attorney shouting questions while answering the same questions in the deep, reserved voice of the witness. Unlike those of most legal thrillers, Buffa's courtroom scenes are realistic. At the same time, Elias doesn't bog down the listener in detail.
