THE STORM OF WAR A New History of the Second World War

by | Read by Christian Rodska

History • 28.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2010

This overview of WWII relies heavily on British opinion, quotations by historians, and the assumption that listeners know the world geography of the time. The author’s shifts from one part of the globe to another over a five-year period may stimulate some listeners and confuse others. The production’s great strength comes from narrator Christian Rodska. He imitates Prime Minister Winston Churchill so well in the man’s frequent quotes that one might imagine that the verbose PM has returned from the departed to help in the production. Rodska gives voices and accents to many other principals, making it easy to distinguish them from the author’s words. Rodska’s other valuable contribution lies in his exceptional polyglot abilities in French, German, and Russian. J.A.H. © AudioFile 2010, Portland, Maine [Published: JUNE 2010]
