Fans of “Buryin’ Barry” will be pleased with this addition to the homey police procedural series. When Halloween ushers in real murders, daily life quickly becomes challenging for part-time sheriff/part-time funeral director Barry Clayton. The residents of Clayton's small town of Gainesboro provide plenty of comic diversions, complications, and ultimately, a killer. Narrator William Dufris, who has been the voice of several de Castrique novels, has a clear, fast-paced delivery that is equal to the plot, and his voice has a range that gives each character a clear identity. His realistic rendition of a North Carolina mountain accent adds authenticity and enhances the dialogue. A soft chair beside a warm stove would be the ideal setting in which to enjoy this comfortable story. M.O.B. © AudioFile 2011, Portland, Maine [Published: MARCH 2011]
