For those of us who truly believe that dogs are man’s best friends, Jennifer Arnold’s audiobook cannot be ignored. She narrates the book herself, and keeps the dog-loving listener glued to the earphones with her passion and great respect for canines. Arnold set up a dog charity that retrained unruly dogs and found homes for them—all while juggling the huge bills and debts of her operation, which time after time were settled by nick-of-time donations. Listeners may cry—I certainly did. Arnold’s deep love and dedication to dogs is woven throughout every chapter of this audiobook; the listener rides the highs of successes and the inevitable lows of occasional failures—all involving individual dogs the listener comes to know. The fruits of Arnold’s works are laid out for all to hear, but do keep your handkerchief nearby—you will certainly need it. B.D.J. © AudioFile 2010, Portland, Maine [Published: DECEMBER 2010]
