At times, it can be challenging to find a narrator whose voice embodies a book. Certainly, that isn’t a problem here as JD Jackson is the ideal narrator for CEMETERY ROAD. Haywood’s novel is about Errol "Handy" White and two friends who kept a secret for 26 years that was so important they vowed never to speak again—that is, until one of the threesome is murdered and the survivors have no choice but to reunite and resolve their past. Jackson’s performance captures the emotions confronting these men as they attempt to bring closure to memories they thought were buried. In particular, Jackson’s ability to infuse each man, and the book’s other characters, with a unique emotional tone allows Haywood’s gripping story to reach another level. D.J.S.
