Three sisters, very different from one another, share a special bond and help each other through troubles with men. Charlayne Woodard reads with feeling and energy, her moderately paced alto clear throughout. However, the critical flaw in this performance is lack of character differentiation. Woodard initially makes an effort, but each vocal characterization lasts for only a sentence or two; furthermore, the absence of gender distinction creates confusion in several dialogues. This is unfortunate indeed since a major factor in listening enjoyment is clearly established characters. J.H.B. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: MAR 96]
