The first volume of the Goblin Wars starts off with an ambitious Chicago teen, Teagan Wyllston, who is focused on her studies and works at the zoo. Her life is turned upside down upon the arrival of her Irish cousin, Fionn Mac Cumhaill, whose name is a clue to the Celtic saga that powers this tale. Narrator Celeste Ciulla draws the listener from the South Side of Chicago to the Goblin underworld of Mag Mel with understated drama, even amid the vivid conflicts between the teens, sprites, and goblins.
