Listeners who loved Larsson's hugely popular Millennium Trilogy can learn more about the Swedish mystery phenomenon, who lived a full life committed to many political issues but was somewhat of an enigma at the time of his sudden death. Eva Gabrielsson, his 32-year common-law spouse, reveals the inner man in this work—part memoir, part biography, and part treatise on the couple's literary alliance. These threads are interwoven disjointedly, without cohesion or even chronological flow. Cassandra Campbell's crisp, feminine narration shines with beautifully pronounced Swedish phrases and names but does not fully convey Gabrielsson's bitterness at being left out of Larsson’s estate by his biological family. Campbell successfully projects Gabrielsson's true intent for this work: to serve as a petition for the "material legacy of [her] partner," and for Larsson's literary stature.
