Armstrong’s moving mystery is splendidly enhanced by Gordon Griffin's narration. When Tom Oliver settles in to teach another weekend writing course, he has no reason to fear for his safety. By the end of his stint, he's a missing person. Griffin captures Detective Inspector Kavanagh's deliberate manner and his partner Jane Salt's quicker and sharper perceptions as they work the case. Soon the clues reveal the heartbreaking reason for Tom's demise. The revelation is so vividly rendered that many listeners will undoubtedly shed a tear. There’s also a subplot about an unusual love story that is presented with sensitivity. Diverse listeners should find much to enjoy. S.G.B.
