MY LITTLE TOWN

The crocuses are in bloom (in the snow), the Chatterbox Café nearly ran out of coffee, and the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Responsibility has a new minister. So goes the newest “News From Lake Wobegon.” For close to 40 years, Garrison Keillor’s easy delivery, immediately recognizable cadence, and uniquely American voice and observations have graced public radio. Sure, “A Prairie Home Companion” features wonderful guest stars and music, but from week to week what we really want to hear is Keillor relate his mythical news, which always sounds so personal and spontaneous. This collection features 18 humorous, insightful, and sometimes scatological examples. Keillor has announced that he will be retiring from radio in 2013, so it seems absolutely necessary to gather up as much news as we can get.
