This is a chilling tale of a rape of a ten-year-old black girl, the murder of the two white rapists by her father, his subsequent trial and the response of the KKK to everyone involved. Alexander Adams successfully captures the flavor of Clanton, Mississippi, and its citizens who are caught up in the controversial trial. Character development is enhanced by the use of both black and white Southern dialects. Several characters drink excessively and although well-done by Adams, the drunken sequences quickly grow tiresome. This is a well-prepared audio production which will keep listeners’ attention through the entire production. C.W. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: NOV 93]
