Stewart follows the infamous career of Dr. Michael Swango as he lies, distorts, cheats and maneuvers his way through life and career, committing crimes against hospital staff and patients. Swango's fascination with almost undetectable poisons is even more terrifying than the outright murder he commits. Boyd Gaines is superb as narrator, taking the listener through all the facts, events and detective work that Stewart compiled. Even the gory scenes are a fascinating exposé of how the medical establishment ignored both the warning signs and actual reports of Swango's actions.
