Richard Poe dives headlong into this shadowy story, narrating at a swift pace with the gritty tone of the period steeped in his voice. The characters are well realized, and each has a clear, distinct sound that helps move the story along. While the mystery that unfolds is ultimately not as interesting as it first appears, Poe's inspired reading keeps listeners tuned in for the duration.
