Historian and biographer Bradford, recognized as an authority on all things royal, provides a brief but thorough biography of Great Britain’s monarch, set within the context of world events during her reign. With special emphasis on world leaders, especially her prime ministers (Churchill was her favorite), the work is well researched but makes occasional chronological jumps, both backward and forward, that are disconcerting to the listener. Phyllida Nash’s crisp British intonation is perfect for the occasion. With an authoritative, warm, and empathetic tone, her narration serves to elevate the writing. A most enjoyable listening experience. W.A.G. © AudioFile 2012, Portland, Maine [Published: AUGUST 2012]
