Easie Damasco is a rogue who will smile and provide sarcastic commentary as he steals whatever he can find. He usually confines himself to stealing money and jewels. But, since there are obvious advantages to having a giant in tow when one is running from an evil warlord one has robbed, he makes an exception and takes the warlord’s giant with him. James Langton narrates Easie’s tale with a consistently sardonic tone that fits the character. He has a slow and easy delivery--except when Easie is running for his life, of course. As other characters are introduced, Langton’s presentation reflects, and evolves with, Easie’s perceptions of them. Who knew giants were such complex beings?
