Bakan examines the history of the corporation as well as its impact on shareholders and society. Rebecca Jenkins provides a stilted reading, not fully connecting phrases and using a clipped tone to finish words and sentences. The overall effect is a utilitarian delivery that does a disservice to the history and complexities of modern business. Jenkins does, however, provide flourishes that can be found only in audio, such as singing the song lyrics that appear in the text and setting off quotations by deepening her voice and adding distinct accents where appropriate.
