Demons rise up from the earth each night, killing any human foolish enough to be outside the magically protected walls. Three young people are fated to fight the demons, and this novel chronicles their journeys to band together and save humanity. GraphicAudio’s adaptation of the book recalls a vintage radio play, with multiple voice actors, elaborate sound effects, music, and a sonorous narrator. Voice actors even sing the songs the jongleurs (jesters) perform while guitars strum in the background. The sound effects can be excessively loud, and the dramatic acting comes close to being over-the-top, but if listeners are in the right mood, this audiobook is great fun.
