HAVE YOU SEEN MARIE?

Sandra Cisneros narrates her own short story of the search for a visiting friend’s lost cat during a time in which Cisneros was grieving over the recent loss of her mother. As she searches for Marie the cat in her San Antonio neighborhood, Cisneros explores her feelings of feeling lost and orphaned in middle age. Her narration is tender and evocative as she meets neighbors who offer their support for her search efforts and who Cisneros realizes have experienced their own losses in life. Soft guitar music provides a gentle segue at the beginning and end of the story, which is followed by an afterword by the author.
