Writing a book about a concept hatched on Twitter—bragging about yourself in humble terms—is probably the most modern thing a writer can do these days, and that’s exactly what author/comedian/TV writer Harris Wittels has done. He’s another in a long line of author-narrators who do a serviceable job with their books but fail to break through to greatness. Wittels has an interesting voice, with a vague Middle American accent, and he can be very funny. This makes the book enjoyable and certainly worth a listen if you like sarcastic humor. He clearly has a good grasp of his material, and his conversational style is engaging, but he fades out at the ends of sentences and doesn’t vary his voice enough to make his book special.
