CAN YOU FEEL THE THUNDER

Narrator Johnny Heller's childlike voice and energetic characterization of 13-year-old Mic Parsons lead the young listener into his predicament at school with warm empathy. His portrayal of Mic's deaf and blind older sister with nasal sounds and difficult-to-understand words brings the problems of a deaf/mute into clear focus. His sharp, clear voice and steady pacing are excellent for his male friends, particularly "Nerd Boy." However, there is little to distinguish gender when he portrays "Godzilla Girl," or other females. Although unabridged, this story would be better served as an abridgment.
