Emmy, Golden Globe, and People's Choice winner Carol Burnett offers a heartfelt tribute and remembrance of her eldest daughter, Carrie Hamilton, who died of cancer at the age of 39. Burnett provides a highly personal, deeply emotional, sincere reading of her daughter's battle with substance abuse, which was conquered, and cancer, which took her life. Burnett's reliance on lengthy verbatim diary entries and email makes for a trying and frustrating listening experience. There is little, if any, insight into the family dynamic as impacted by Carrie's drug dependence. The second half of the book is Hamilton's unfinished work of fiction, which loosely parallels her life. That story is sadly unsatisfying and unappealing.
