Trivia guru and 2004 "Jeopardy" legend Ken Jennings narrates his entertaining examination of the advice children in every generation hear. His fast-paced delivery will tax some listeners' concentration, especially when he's reading some of the longer scientific references. But his phrasing and speaking voice are clear, so any ambiguity about what he's saying is temporary. His performance also communicates his cheery, optimistic personality, which helps hold together this diverse information. Who knew that macadamia nuts make dogs loopy, that food doesn't cause nightmares, and that poinsettias will only make you sick if you eat 500 of them? This is the type of book that could have sounded like an encyclopedia, but Jennings's lighthearted writing and speaking make it a fun way to spend five hours.
