Arielle DeLisle’s high-spirited narration perfectly embodies the voice of protagonist Alana Ostermann, who holds a demanding but thankless job as executive assistant to celebrity chef Patrick Conlon. DeLisle’s peppy exuberance brings out the chaotic pace of Alana’s life and her humorous struggles to keep her work from taking over her personal life. Her private life involves not only her dog but also a prospective match from an online dating site. Though DeLisle’s delivery of the foreign accents is not always accurate or consistently present, the characters’ personalities still shine and keep this lighthearted romance lively and entertaining.
