As Meyer continues her Lunar Chronicles, lunar-born cyborg Cinder narrowly escapes from New Beijing prison. Simultaneously, halfway around the planet, a farm girl named Scarlet goes in search of her missing grandmother. Narrator Rebecca Soler maintains the rising tension levels through pacing and tone as the story lines weave together and the danger grows--not only on earth but also on a larger scale involving the Lunar Queen Levana's bid for power. Soler navigates the alternating story lines well, easily transitioning from a slightly robotic tone for Cinder and her android, Iko, to just a hint of a French accent in Scarlet and Wolf's tale, which reminds listeners that the majority of the story takes place in France.
