This audio charmer, based on an actual house, sports a little of everything: cozy, historical fiction, romance, and ghost story. In Wales, just after WWII, Riana Evans can't believe her luck when elderly, eccentric Beatrice sells her lovely mansion at a very reasonable price. Narrator Anne Dover commendably performs a wide range of personalities, nationalities, and emotions as Riana renovates the house for guests and introduces ghost-hunting weekends. In addition to the intrepid ghost hunters, Dover's best creation is Beatrice, who looks and sounds Victorian and appears and disappears at the perfect moments. Adding to the mix is American soldier Tom Maybury, who has a sweet 1950s-style romance with Riana. S.G.B. © AudioFile 2013, Portland, Maine [Published: FEBRUARY 2013]
