Steve Brill delivers a humorous and engaging narration as he offers tips on foraging in New York City's parks and densely populated areas. Brill's unscripted narrative, dry humor, frequent puns, and tongue-in-cheek comments are enhanced by his monotone delivery as he interweaves history and personal stories with information about wild, edible, and medicinal plants that are usually overlooked as renewable resources. Narrator Susan Boyce's clear and comparatively formal voice introduces chapters and provides additional detail on the plants described by Brill. The narrative transitions between Brill and Boyce include inconsistent and awkward cuts and fade-ins and -outs of the live segments, which create minor distractions. Because most of the segments are cut from live tours, the responses of Brill's audience are testament to his entertaining personality. M.F. © AudioFile 2013, Portland, Maine [Published: MAY 2013]
