PASS THROUGH PANIC

PASS THROUGH PANIC is a compilation of eight radio lectures copyrighted in 1967 by the late Australian panic expert Claire Weekes. Her main points are valid enough--that fear and anxiety can be exaggerated reactions to stress and that a lot of emotional and physical illness is due to ignorance about people's normal stress responses. But the author's delivery has an authoritarian tone, and the content obviously doesn't benefit from the psychiatric and psychological advances that have been made in the past thirty years. The program is an artifact of self-help radio lore, but not a good resource for patients with panic or anxiety. T.W. © AudioFile 2001, Portland, Maine [Published: JUN/JUL 01]
