Thérèse Plummer's expressive narrative voice, combined with her ability to give an interesting and distinct voice to each character, makes this sweet tale of a second chance at love a most enjoyable audio experience. In this continuation of the Thunder Point series, lovely Devon McAllister flees a commune in the middle of the night with her 3-year-old daughter when its leader becomes more and more erratic. Fearing that she’ll be found and forced back into her former life, Devon is befriended by Rawley, a wily curmudgeon who takes her in and teaches her that real goodness does exist. Plummer convincingly conveys the change in Devon—from tentative and fearful to more confident and strong—and her portrayal of Rawley is spot-on.
