Listeners join Isabel Spellman as she deals with the fallout from her “hostile takeover” of her family’s private investigation agency. The author’s relaxed writing style is well matched by Christina Moore’s breezy narration, despite the difficult nature of aspects of the plot. Through her skilled narration, Moore brings the large and eccentric cast to life, creating offbeat yet believable characters, each with distinct characteristics that help listeners keep track of who's who. With the point of view apparently being passed to Isabel's younger sister at the end of the book, the epilogue is narrated by Mia Barron, which explains a brief change of narrator earlier in the book.
