Narrator Justine Eyre, who has been applauded for her facility with accents, is the perfect choice for this historical romance featuring the brooding Earl of Druridge and the lovely Rachel McTavish, a coal miner’s daughter. When the earl's beautiful but philandering wife is killed in a fire at Blackmoor Hall, Rachel may hold the key to solving the mystery. However, dark forces are at work to keep the lovers apart and to ensure the earl is blamed for the death. Eyre excels at each accent—from the earl's almost bored upper-crust accent to those of the coal miners and the house staff. Her acting talents help make the narration both credible and enjoyable.
