In this intriguing debut, Reeve LeClaire is trying to rebuild her life with the help of her indispensable therapist, Dr. Ezra Lerner, after having been kidnapped and held captive for four years. Narrator Christina Delaine presents Reeve and the myriad of other characters in her life with empathy. When Lerner asks Reeve to help another girl who has been rescued from a similar situation, Reeve finds herself having to confront her past. Delaine does an outstanding job finding unique voices for the many characters. Her deliberate narration style heightens the suspense as the young women race to identify a rogue cop and escape the clutches of a terrifying villain.
