With a severely injured shoulder, Warren continues to investigate multiple murders. The story involves two sisters, one who is an incarcerated serial killer and, the other, a psychiatrist with a rare physical disorder; a suspected copycat killer; and a reporter with a grudge. Potter differentiates between all the female characters in the book, giving them markedly different personalities.
