Adamson explores the provincialism and prejudices found of small towns everywhere. When Alice inherits a cottage in an isolated coastal area, she decides it's the perfect location to humor the budding writer in her. Even better, the town harbors a fifty-year old secret. Closed-mouthed and inflexible, the townsfolk all but shun her. In order to learn their story, Alice must deal with the prime suspect in the mystery. Briony Sykes gives an engaging performance. Her renditions of the villagers are alternately brusque, eccentric, and enigmatic, as required. Her portrayal of Alice approaches every challenge with relish as, at her own peril, she forces the skeletons of Stark Point from their closets.
