A HUNKA HUNKA NURSING LOVE

Narrator Anne Hancock captures each character from kids in day care to seniors and their families in hospice. The witty, gutsy protagonist of this comic novel, Valerie Palka, is by far her best creation. When Valerie's 81-year-old mother, Helen, is hospitalized, she remarks that if a home health care nurse could resemble the gorgeous hunk who has been her hospital nurse, she'd agree to hire one. Soon, entrepreneur Valerie begins Home Health Hunks, and they hire Keith. Hancock warmly conveys charming, laugh-out-loud humor when Helen begins to date Charlie, a tender bear of a man. Other characters come through vividly as well, including Valerie's lesbian business partner, her boyfriend, and her money-minded business investors.
