THE BUTCHER'S SON Dick Hardesty, Book 1

by | Read by Jeff Frez-Albrecht

Mystery & Suspense • 5.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2013

Narrator Jeff Frez-Albrecht perfectly portrays Dick Hardesty, a likable gay man living in 1970s Los Angeles, and his charming circle of friends. A public relations professional, Hardesty is dismayed when his boss forces him to work on Police Chief Rourk's (the Butcher) campaign for governor. Rourk is reputed to have murdered his gay son. When a series of deadly fires hits the gay community, Hardesty thinks he knows who's responsible. Frez-Albrecht impressively captures the story's many twists and subtle humor--including a Judy Garland impersonator. Particularly enjoyable is Frez-Albrecht's portrayal of Hardesty's liberal inner monologues as he deals with Rourk's ultra-conservative campaigners.
