This is the twenty-first entry in Gash's series on Lovejoy, the bent and brilliant, lecherous and loyal antique dealer. As always, the plot is complicated, the characters bizarre and the 'good guys-bad guys' divide obscured by events. And again, as always, the listener learns a great deal about antiques - real and fake, about the trade and traders, and in this book, much about the city of London. Christopher Kay enters into the spirit of the tale with gusto. His rich people sound properly pompous, his seedy voices suitably down-at-the-heel, and his evil people totally untrustworthy.
