Carla Mercer-Meyer's undistinquished narration is in keeping with this less than thrilling fourth book in the Sharpe & Donovan series. Former nun turned FBI agent Emma Sharpe, with the help of her hot FBI agent lover, Colin Donovan, is on the trail of a serial art thief. Mercer-Meyer's delivery of the narrative is pleasant and entertaining, but her voice for Emma is too sweet and light for a kick-ass FBI agent. She just doesn't grab listeners and pull them into the story. Likewise, her portrayals of the male FBI agents miss the mark and lack appeal. Even the accents, Irish and Southern, while authentic, are unappealing. A.C.P. © AudioFile 2014, Portland, Maine [Published: DECEMBER 2014]
