What will the princesses of a very small kingdom do when they grow up? This audio series about a dozen sisters may answer that question, beginning with Clarice, whose passion has been studying swordplay. As Clarice masquerades as Clarence and sets out to sea, Emily Sutton-Smith has an opportunity to showcase a range of accents and personalities. The ship's doctor is presented as the quintessential educated Englishman; the evil clergyman, as one who cannot be trusted in any circumstance; and the dashing young navigator, as an earnest young man worthy of trust and admiration. Primarily for young adult audiences, the book introduces some serious issues, but Sutton-Smith maintains the light touch of the authors.
