Don't put DATACLYSM on your "anti-insomnia" audiobook list. This approach to Big Data by OkCupid dating site co-founder Christian Rudder is not boring. Rudder intrigues listeners by revealing what can be discerned from the seemingly meaningless personal data we (more or less) voluntarily surrender every day--and with the cultural implications of the collection itself. Narrator Kaleo Griffith's crisp, upbeat cadence keeps listeners engaged with the numbers as well as the narrative, although he could have relaxed more in delivering the colorful humor. A couple of unnecessarily long tables could have been whittled down, but these are minor quibbles in a data-driven book that is otherwise entertainingly captured on audio.
