THE LONE STAR RANGER

by | Read by Ed Sala

Western • 10.75 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1915

Zane Grey wrote this story in 1914 to honor the Texas Rangers. Ed Sala does a commendable job covering the wide range of action, description, and authentic Western American conversation. After Buck Duane commits a murder, his uncle advises him, "You can't cry over spilled blood," and soon Buck hits the trail in order to avoid capture. Grey differs from most Western writers by having Duane ponder what might have been had his "victim" not been murdered. Listeners are in for a treat with an audiobook that is an excellent example of a Western in which character is more important than action.
