Whimsical music opens and reappears throughout this homey tale. The Bastable family's fortune has been lost, and the six children hatch various hilarious plans to help make ends meet. Theresa Gallagher portrays the adorable children with distinction and charm as they consider ideas ranging from treasure hunting to robbery to marrying a royal to help make money. Most fun is the banter of the children with their neighbor, whom they always refer to as "Albert, next door."
