Mel Foster's deep, rich voice and slow, even pacing are appropriate for this chilling story of twin brothers. One is a respected small-town doctor who was his parents' favorite. The other is a formerly difficult child, who, after much success on Wall Street, returns to his hometown after losing everything. When one of them discovers some damning evidence, the past merges with the present and threatens to destroy the future. Who is evil, and who is not? Foster uses tonal changes to mark each character and differences in pitch for the female characters. Although the characters' voices are not distinct, the story is so compelling that it doesn't matter. This is Danielle Steel at her best. A.C.P. © AudioFile 2015, Portland, Maine [Published: MAY 2015]
